Crosswords, the key to marketing success? People are always asking me “How do you do those things? I can’t figure them out for anything in this world” or “How did you know what that word was”. My answers is always the same. They’re not that hard you just have to train your brain to think in the same manner that the crossword writer does. One of the most astonishing features of the human brain is that is so adaptable. The brain can be taught to think in a certain manner. It doesn’t matter which manner it is. You can even if trick the brain into believing that the body is healthy even if its not. If you think about it; how is it that a person can’t figure out a three letter word for color (hue) or a three letter word for a mischeivous child (imp). I’m not some boy genius or a nerd boy because I know those answers to these questions. The simply fact is I’ve trained my brain to think in that manner.
So what does this have to do with being a successful marketer. What in the world does a bad kid have to do with an internet marketing guru. Simple; it’s the ability to train your brain to think in a certain manner. The unsuccessful people in any business are people who haven’t figure out what it takes to train their brain think in the same manner as successful people in their field. The best doctors or the best actors or the best racecar drivers have mastered the art of their fields by training their brain to think like related successes.
So it only makes since that any field can be conquered, with the correct training. Lance Armstrong doesn’t need to train to be a runner, he’s been doing that all his life. At this age and at this stage in his career. Now he has to train his brain to think like he did when he was at the top of his game and winning the most Tour de France races in history. So to be successful at internet marketing or marketing in general one must train their brain to think like some of the greats or guru of the game.
When you pay for a life mentoring coach he’s going to tell you to visualize yourself obtaining whatever goal it is that you have. That’s the training of the brain. When your mom told you that you were special and it didn’t matter what the other kids said. She was training your brain to believe in you no matter what, because parents are responsible for the training until you yourself can take over.
So when you set out on your journey to become a successful marketer use this knowledge to your advantage. Tell yourself you are not going to be apart of the 90+% who fail. Tell yourself that it’s impossible to fail because you’ve already put yourself in the mindset of a successful marketer. You’ve already seen the big picture long before you ever put the finishing touches on business logo or your first profile for a social media site. There are certain things one can do put themselves ahead of the game when it comes to preparing to embark on a marketing career. None of which are more import than having the correct mindset. None more important than the pre-training of your brain to think in manner of a person who has already surpassed that 90+% of people that failed.
There’s a few things you can do right now that will definitely help you embark on your journey. The two thinks I suggest you do right now.
First access yourself and determine as of right now what level of skills you have in the marketing field. Sit down a critique yourself. Establish a baseline, this will help you determine in the future how much you’ve grown and exactly what areas are still lacking. If you can tell which areas you’ve gotten better in and which area are not up to par. You can then pinpoint where you need to focus your time and energy.
The second important thing you need to do is get yourself a mentor or coach. Someone who cares about your success and is as determined as you to succeed. Some of these mentors and coaches will charge you a hugh fee to share their knowledge with you. NOT ME! NOT MY TEAM! You will never be charged a dime for any information I give you, because that’s not what it’s about.
So the next time you see someone doing a crossword puzzle don’t ask them how they knew the answer, but how they trained their brains to think like that. Because that’s the real beauty of knowing a 4 letter word disarray (amok).
